The doctoral dissertation of Kai Lankinen evaluates the transition from spot color printing to Expanded Gamut Printing, EGP.

The training has been ran since 2007 by the Finnish Packaging Association and lectured by Matti Kiijärvi from Flexica and Kai Lankinen from Marvaco. During the last 13 years they've trained about 450 people into the principles of flexo printing.

It’s a great way to start a year by learning something new! The supply chain partners Marvaco, ALT, Swedev and SunChemical teamed up for an education kick-off in Sunne, Sweden.

Until now, the sustainability of packaging has been connected to the choice of packaging materials and their recyclability. The new, high-quality EGP (Expanded Gamut Printing) technology allows us to pay attention to environmental matters even during the printing process. The paper bags of Raisio’s Sunnuntai baking products, which recently underwent a design change, are an excellent example of how packaging printing can be made eco-friendlier and also higher-quality with the help of the new technology. Raisio is now entitled to use the GreenerPrinting™ label on these products.

Tomi Havia has been appointed as Marvaco Oy’s Sales Director with a focus on printing businesses. He will be responsible for matters regarding Finnish printing clients and international printing clients operating in the Nordic region, as well as the collaboration with brand owners.

Elecster Oyj, a Finnish supplier of environmentally-friendly milk packaging and manufacturer of aseptic production lines, has received the third EGP partnership certificate in Europe. The certificate was awarded as a recognition for implementing the modern EGP production process.

The traditional FlexoTech Awards bring the leaders in flexography together. In 2017, the awards ceremony was organised in London on 23 November. The awards were granted to best flexography works from 2017. Finnish printing industry professionals using EGP (Expanded Gamut Printing) were again awarded this year.

Last spring four printing technican students from Brobygrafiska school from Sunne did their internship in Marvaco. The students were located in Sunne and Helsingborg in Sweden and in Helsinki in Finland. During these 3 months the students had the chance to train their skills and to get to know what their possible future job is really about.

The 10th international FlexoDay seminar was organized on 15 November in Bologna, Italy. The event was hosted by Italy's flexography association, ATIF (Associazione Tecnica Italiana per la Flessografia). Over 400 flexography and packaging industry professionals from several countries gathered in Bologna to network and discuss the latest news and the future of the industry. Marvaco was one of the companies represent at the seminar.

The Finnish Packaging Association organised the Flexo ABC training day at the Tampere University of Technology for the 11th time. More than 50 designers, buyers, and other actors of the packaging industry interested in flexography participated in the training. The Finnish experts on flexography, Matti Kiijärvi and Kai Lankinen, acted as the trainers in the event.

International Alliance of Two Innovative Premedia Companies Provides Clients with Greater Reach, Capacity and Brand Protection

The traditional Marvaco InSight seminar, aimed at brand owners in the packaging industry, was organised at the Radisson Blu Royal hotel in Helsinki in April.

At the start of March 2017 Olle Olsson of Kostym designindustries, part of the Marvaco group, won an honorary award for his achievements in design and marketing at Guldvargen.

Our Sweden Managing Director Leif Backman started his pension by making his own flexo printing at Broby school in Sunne. Friends and colleagues were celebrating together with Leif on his last working day.

This spring 3 students from Broby Graphical school will make their learning at work in Marvaco.

Already the third year in row Marvaco arranged the Insight seminar for brand owners in April. The packaging industry expert, Rowland Heming, was invited to the seminar as the main speaker. The hall in Radisson Blu Royal hotel in Helsinki was filled with over 100 packaging professionals coming to hear about the Selling Power of Packaging Design.

Marvaco expands its business by acquiring the operations of Kostym Designindustries AB, who specialise in packaging artwork design and operates in Central Sweden.

Congratulations to Pyroll Group for printing an excellent job! In cooperation Pyroll-Marvaco won the Silver medal in FTA Excellency in Flexography Awards 2016 in Texas. There were hundreds of participants in the competition and as always, the judgement criteria was set high.

Finnish companies continue to be successful at the international FlexoTech Awards 2015 printing competition as the jury has chosen the best-printed packages out of hundreds of samples for the final. Packaging printing companies DS Smith and Pa-Hu Oy are once again in the final, together with their prepress partner Marvaco Oy.

RKW Finland Ltd shall receive yet another award at a prestige Flexo Tech Awards printing competition with its partner Marvaco Ltd.

Ab Rani Plast Oy has received the Full HD Flexo -partnercertificate due to its high print quality together with Marvaco. This certificate is 10th in the World and fifth in the Nordic countries.

Pyroll Salolle has been rewarded with the Full HD Flexo partner certificate for its high print quality. In cooperation with Marvaco the Full HD Flexo jobs are showing strong colors, contrast and sharp details even in combination with the vignettes. The new technology allows even more efficient packaging printing production with the highest possible quality.

Marvaco's MD Kai Lankinen and Flexica's MD Matti Kiijärvi held the Flexo ABC training in Tampere on 27.5.2014. There were 47 participants from several companies across the printing and graphics industry among others flexible packaging, corrugated packaging, labels as well as design agencies and brand owners.

Marvaco's partners won the FTA Excellence in Flexography -awards as the best in class in USA, Baltimore. RKW Finland Oy won the gold award and got the"Best of Show" -award with the Falcon BBQ print job. Pa-Hu Oy won bronze medal with the Hau Hau Champion job. Marvaco delivered the prepress and the plates to the both winning entries.

Finnish packaging prepress and flexoprinting is on the best level in Europe. The finnish packaging printers RKW Finland Ltd and Pa-Hu Ltd, together with the packaging prepress house Marvaco Ltd, won gold medals at EFIA 2014 Print Awards with two designs in UK.

Finnish packaging printers RKW Finland Ltd and Pa-Hu Ltd, together with the packaging prepress house Marvaco Ltd, have achieved highly rated rankings in finals with four different designs in international competitions in UK and USA.

Oy WestPak Ab has received the Full HD Flexo patner certificate from EskoArtwork. This has been accomplished in cooperation with Marvaco. The Full HD Flexo certificate is the fifth in the world.

EU regulation No 1169/2011 of food information into force 13.12.2014. In practice, the EU regulation means that almost all tens and hundreds of thousands food packages, sold in Finland and Europe, have to be renewed by year 2014. The transition period has been effective since 2011. – Are you prepared?

Cooperation between Pa-Hu Oy and Marvaco won golden medal in FlexoTech 2013 -competition in London on 17th of October. The HAU HAU Champion work was rewarded as the best of the class for sacks and corrugated pre-print liner in it's category. The gold medal for this CMY-process printed job shows that the skillful combination of printing efficiency and top quality can be reached with professional work.

The international success of Marvaco’s customer co-operation will continue in the FlexoTech 2013 competition. The pallet ribbon job “HAU HAU Champion” printed by Pa-Hu Oy is involved in the awards ceremony in London, England 17th of October.

Marvaco, the forerunner of Scandinavian packaging pre-press houses, has achieved a coveted packaging print world Full HD Flexo -certificate. The certificate is granted by Esko. Previously, only two other operators in the world have achieved this merit. The Marvaco certificate is the first in the Nordic Region.

The Finnish packaging pre-media company Marvaco achieves a significant role in Scandinavia. Marvaco expands its operations to Sweden by acquiring the Linds Flexo prepress company in Helsingborg, South-Sweden. The company will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2014.

From now on Sata-Flexo, Marvaco, Mac-repro and B-Fast are known as Marvaco Oy.
